I was raised in Southern California by my single mother and my immigrant Guatemalan grandparents. I was introduced to competitive sports in middle school when I joined my first running team. Competitive club sports gave me a way to cope with stress and overcome adversity in my life. Having succeeded in elite long-distance running competitions during my high school years, I was recruited to join the Oregon State University (D1) Track and Field team. With perseverance learned through distance running, I became the first person in my family to attend and graduate college. After college, I completed an internship at CU Boulder Athletics and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Having experienced sports injuries common to endurance athletes, I sought new directions in outdoor sports and strength-based injury prevention. I began pursuing climbing, lifting, and functional movement screenings. In March 2018 I underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. Unable to find much guidance in the recovery process as an athlete, I used my skillset to accelerate my recovery. In 2021 I became a Cancer Exercise Specialist (CES) to complement my experience working with cancer survivors and previvors.

My expertise in developmental strength training enables me to work with a diverse range of clients worldwide. My clientele has included climbers, runners, swimmers, cyclists, hikers, and those looking to regain their strength and confidence before and after mastectomies, hysterectomies, radiation, and chemotherapy. My passion is helping clients achieve their nutrition and fitness goals through an individualized training program. I am open to working with anybody motivated to achieve success.

Joslynn offers her experience as a trainer and participant in many sports, including rock climbing, yoga, skiing, hiking, bike riding, and surfing among many others.
